Alphabet Superset 2023

I was told about the ‘Alphabet Superset’ challenge run by Struthless (Campbell Walker; see YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@struthless) and I wanted to take part. However, I don’t have Instagram and that’s probably where ‘everyone’ who takes part is going to be at.

So, to find others to share this challenge with, I created an unofficial subreddit page for the Alphabet Superset challenge.

The challenge is to create something (art work, writing, music, whatever) for every letter of the alphabet doing one letter every week. At the start of the challenge you will pick a theme as a guide for inspiration. Every week you pick your topic for the letter of that week in line with your overarching theme.

The idea is that at the start you set some constraints for yourself, so that every week you can more easily create a (small) piece of art or creative something to end up with a cohesive collection of works. Every week you will make something in the same medium and along the same style so that in the end, all of your works look like they belong to the same collection.

You can find all the details, worksheets, and tips on the challenge’s official website: https://www.alphabetsuperset.com/

I initially wanted to create a digital font, something I have never done before. But after doing some online research I realised that this would probably not require enough time to be able do every week for 26 weeks. So, I changed my plan and took the challenge literally: I decided to make a mixed-media letter every week. Here is my ‘A’:

I will be posting my creations on the subreddit. See you there!

Update: I will also be posting the rest of my creations for this challenge in this post.

I have been crafting since early childhood and currently do mostly sewing and illustration. 'Almalauha' is the project I started to showcase my sewing/fashion hobby, at least that was the plan. But because I like a million different arts/crafts things, I'm just going to share most of the creative things I do on this blog.
