Active wear

I’ve uploaded my first newly-made garment to Depop, a see-through wrap skirt, find it in my shop: https://www.depop.com/almalauha/

I love browsing Depop because there’s no end to the variety of garments and accessories: I always see something I love and get inspiration for making my own things.

One brand I didn’t yet know and came across on Depop is Gramicci. They make active wear for climbers and anyone else that needs sturdy clothes with freedom of movement. I am keen to try some of their looser fitting women’s trousers to see if they fit me (my upper body is about two sizes smaller than my lower body which means that if I find trousers that fit around the hips, they are usually too loose at the waist). Gramicci’s items cost a little more than the mainstream fashion chains but based on the photos, their garments look very well made, so the price difference is probably worth it.

When I was in art school there was an assignment for which I made a pair of black jeans with red stitching to fit me. I don’t know what happened to them, I imagine I must have donated them to a secondhand shop in one of my many house moves, but I loved making it. I am thinking to perhaps make my own kind of active wear trousers to get back into making garments for myself. Stay tuned!

I have been crafting since early childhood and currently do mostly sewing and illustration. 'Almalauha' is the project I started to showcase my sewing/fashion hobby, at least that was the plan. But because I like a million different arts/crafts things, I'm just going to share most of the creative things I do on this blog.
