I’ve done some more painting to try to get back into working with acrylic paints: “Yellow cells in love” (2024) – 50 x 50 cm canvas (for sale here). Untitled (2024) – A3 acrylic on art paper (for sale here). And a work in progress:

I have been crafting since early childhood and currently do mostly sewing and illustration. 'Almalauha' is the project I started to showcase my sewing/fashion hobby, at least that was the plan. But because I like a million different arts/crafts things, I'm just going to share most of the creative things I do on this blog.
Doodles
I like drawing/illustration and frequently make small doodles. I usually use several types/widths of black pen. Here are some of my latest doodles:
I finally finished two paintings!
I started work on these canvases ages ago but both went nowhere, so I painted over what I had done to start fresh. The smaller one is made after a small doodle I made a while back that shows a lot of concentric rings and swirly lines. I hope to make more art along this… Continue reading I finally finished two paintings!
My current rings organisers
I know it’s been a bit quiet on my blog. This is because I was finalising a university course I started last year, so my attention has mainly been channeled into that direction. I’ve also had some other things come up, but I wanted to share the organisers I currently use (almost) daily. At the… Continue reading My current rings organisers
Making my first traveler’s notebook
Update: You can see this notebook in my video on YouTube. I came across the “traveler’s notebook” style notebooks online recently. They seem very convenient for a number of reasons, mainly their modularity. Such a traveler’s notebook (TN) consists of an outer cover/shell, often made from thick leather, which is filled with individual notebooks that… Continue reading Making my first traveler’s notebook
What’s cooking?
Update: You can see my Deskfax Richmond in my YouTube video :). So, it’s been a (not too long) while since my last post. I’ve been busy visiting family and working on a course I am currently taking, so my crafting has taken a little bit of a backseat. But not to worry, I’ve found… Continue reading What’s cooking?
Princess dress
I made a Princess dress for a 5-year old. I didn’t use a pattern, I just cut out the fabric pieces by eye and used a measuring tape to ensure I was making the dress to the right dimensions. Sorry, no in-progress pictures! It was a fair bit of work but not that hard as… Continue reading Princess dress
Sewing underwear (01)
I normally buy underwear from the store, but sometimes the fit isn’t quite right, I think that’s because I have a relatively small waist but a much fuller bottom/hips meaning a lot of my volume in this area is positioned on the back. So, I wanted to try my hand at making my own underwear!… Continue reading Sewing underwear (01)
Inspired – The art of making historical fashion
I recently visited the Bankfield museum in Halifax. They have several permanent exhibitions as well as some temporary exhibitions. They now have ‘Inspired – The art of making historical fashion’ on until the 21st of December 2024: This exhibition covers people who make historical costumes or costumes inspired by historical costumes, including a maker of… Continue reading Inspired – The art of making historical fashion
Sewing course 2024 (04)
This week, I made lounge trousers for a man. I started off making a block for basic trousers using his measurements. I used green pen to mark the front piece and red for the back: I then traced the front piece as well as the back piece onto a new piece of paper each. I… Continue reading Sewing course 2024 (04)
