In all my excitement of having completed the Alphabet Superset, I forgot to write about it here!
I started this challenge around September 2023 and worked my way through every letter of the alphabet over the course of about a year. I chose textile collage/applique as the medium to create every letter. I know other crafters/artists have chosen different techniques, media, and themes, but I wanted to choose something quite simple in idea and in the execution, add complexity.
You can find higher-resolution images of all letters in my previous blog post. For convenience, I created a single image showing all my creations for this challenge:

This was a really good experience as it pushed me to regularly work on something using the same medium. This helped focus my work and got me past procrastination or getting stuck.
I have a lot of previous experience with textiles but this is mainly in the context of garments, so creating two-dimensional textile works was a very interesting change. I especially liked adding sequins and beads by hand, which I didn’t think I’d enjoy as I am usually quite impatient! But I found the hand stitching parts of this work very relaxing and it’s something I plan to continue doing one way or another.
You can do this kind of challenge at any point in your life, and I recommend anyone wanting to push themselves in their hobby to do this at least once. I have spoken to other crafters who also took part and they too felt this activity helped focus and push themselves, followed by a big sense of achievement upon completion.
